Sad Passing

It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the passing of our respected colleague and much loved teacher Mr Robert Hamilton.

Mr Hamilton suffered a cardiac arrest and later passed away in hospital with family by his side.

Robert has worked for Glasgow City Council Education Services since 1977. His career began as a Business Studies Teacher and shortly after he found himself here at Bellahouston Academy.  He served our pupils in the department for many years and then latterly, he extended into the roles of Employment and Enterprise Officer, in which he was also very effective.  Many, many of our pupils have been so positively impacted by the time and care Robert took to ensure they moved onto positive destinations as their time at Bellahouston came to an end.

His final role before retiring was as Employability Manager with secondary pupils in the south area, within Holyrood Secondary School, Bellahouston Academy and Hollybrook Academy.

He also supported the city wide Employment and Skills Partnership Team with specialist expertise in University and College recruitment and selection processes, and the implementation of Career Ready a UK wide charity, linking employers with schools and colleges to open up the world of work to young people.

Robert will be missed tremendously by pupils, parent and carers and colleagues. Partner agencies, including Higher Education Institutions, and Skills Development Scotland  consistently recognised his valuable skills.

Robert could always be relied upon to deliver high quality employability support and enjoyed advocating on behalf of young people from all backgrounds. He made a significant contribution to increasing the range and impact of learner pathways for many pupils and will be sadly missed.

Robert's funeral service will be held on 24th January at 10am, Woodside Crematorium, Paisely.
